CNP Soccer Association Announces Transition to School‑Year Age Groups for the 2026–2027 Soccer Year
CNP Soccer Association is implementing an important update beginning with the Fall 2026 season. In alignment with the Oklahoma Soccer Association (OSA) and US Youth Soccer (USYS), our club will transition from birth‑year age divisions to the School‑Year Age Group structure.
This change is being adopted statewide to create consistency for families, simplify team placement, and better align recreational and competitive programs across Oklahoma.
Why This Change Is Being Made
OSA and USYS have updated their age‑grouping policies to follow the Soccer Year (August 1 – July 31) rather than the traditional January–December birth‑year model. This school‑year structure:
- Keeps teammates closer in school grade and developmental stage
- Reduces confusion for families with multiple children
- Helps clubs maintain more stable teams from season to season
- Aligns recreational and competitive pathways under the same standard
For CNP Soccer families, this means your child’s age division will now be based on the 2026–2027 Soccer Year, not their birth year alone.
What Families Can Expect
Beginning with Fall 2026 registration, all players will be placed according to the OSA/USYS School‑Year Age Group Matrix. This ensures:
- Players are grouped with peers in the same school‑year cohort
- Team formation is more consistent across clubs statewide
- Age divisions match the standards used in competitive leagues
Some players may see their age label shift (for example, from U10 to U11). This is normal under the updated structure.
